The charges against Mr. Ali Gudarzi were announced as "murder and an illegitimate relationship." According to the Hamshahri newspaper, he had murdered the Assistant Director of the Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs in Borujerd with the collaboration of the victim’s wife, in November of 2000.  Earlier on November 26, 2000, the Ettela’at newspaper had published the news of the murder of the Assistant Director of the Shahid Foundation by an unknown in Borujerd on November 22, 2000.

According to the Hamshahri newspaper, quoting a judicial authority, the investigation of this case took place out of sequence, due to urgency and by order of the highest judicial authority. Mr. Gudarzi was hanged in public at Takhti Street in Borujerd on February 11, 2001, after he received 99 lashes.
