About this Case

The information regarding Mr. Fereidun Ra’isi is based on a book titled Siavoshan, “Remembrance of the Ranjbaran Party of Iran’s Martyrs” by Baqer Mortazavi and the Jomhuri Eslamiand Kayhan newspapers on July 8, 1981. These papers published the news of Mr. Fereidun Ra’isi’s execution and that of another person.

Mr. Fereidun Ra’isi was a laborer’s activist for the Party. After the revolution, he was chosen to be on the founding board of the Workers Confederation of Iran.

This execution was also reported in an addendum to the Mojahed magazine (No 261), published by Mojahedin Khalq Organization in 1985. The list includes 12028 individuals, affiliated with various opposition groups, who were executed or killed during clashes with the Islamic Republic security forces from June 1981 to the publication date of the magazine.

According to the Siavoshan book, the charge against Mr. Ra’isi was “the membership in the Workers Confederation of Iran.” In the report of Jomhuri Eslami, his charges are “participating in activities and leadership in the Mazandaran Branch of the Workers Confederation of Iran as the Organization’s secretary.” Also, “he was active among the laborers in order to divert.” And, “he also fought in the Rostamkola clash.”

The validity of the criminal charges brought against this defendant cannot be ascertained in the absence of the basic guarantees of a fair trial.

Evidence of guilt

The report of theJomhuri Eslaminewspaper stated the evidence against Mr. Ra’isi is “the Workers Confederation of Cities supported his dismissal and the Ranjbaran Party in its newspaper number 58 clearly supported him as a real defender of laborers’ rights.”

Judgment

The Revolutionary Court of Behshahr declared Mr. Fereidun Ra’isi a “corruptor on Earth” (Mofsed) and an “innate apostate” (Mortad Fetri) and condemned him to death. According to theSiavoshan book, Mr. Fereidun Ra’isi was executed by firing squad in July 1981. TheJomhuri Eslaminewspaper reported that because of being a Mortad (apostate), his body was denied burial in the Moslem cemetery.
