About this Case

The information about the execution of Ms. Akram Khalili and 4 other individuals was released in a communiqué of the Public Prosecutors Office, were published in the Kayhan newspaper on September 21, 1981.

This execution was also reported in an addendum to the Mojahed magazine (No 261), published by Mojahedin Khalq Organization in 1985. The list includes 12028 individuals, affiliated with various opposition groups, who were executed or killed during clashes with the Islamic Republic security forces from June 1981 to the publication date of the magazine.

Ms. Khalili is also one of the 1533 executed prisoners listed by the Association of Iranian Women of Köln (Germany). The list published in 1997 is entitled: "A partial list of names of women executed by the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Arrest and detention

According to the form, Ms. Khalili was arrested by the Najaf Abad Revolutionary Guards in the summer of 1981 at dawn at her parent’s house. Further circumstances of her arrest and detention are not known.

Charges

Based on the communiqué of Public Prosecutor’s Office, Ms. Khalili, along with another defendant, was charged with “active support of the [Mojahedin Khalq] Organization, anti-revolutionary activities, approval of the theory of armed struggle, causing disturbances in schools, spreading poisonous and anti-revolutionary ideology and distributing banned pamphlets and publications in schools.”

The validity of the criminal charges brought against this defendant cannot be ascertained in the absence of the basic guarantees of a fair trial.

Judgment
