UN Secretary General's Report on the Situation of Human Rights in Iran, August 2021

The present report is submitted pursuant to General Assembly resolution 75/191 on the situation of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran, in which the Assembly requested the Secretary-General to report to the Assembly at its seventy-sixth session on the progress made in the implementation of the resolution. It covers the period from 11 June 2020 to 10 June 2021.
The report contains information from the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, non-governmental and media organizations and individuals interviewed by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), as well as observations from the United Nations human rights mechanisms. The Government continued to engage with OHCHR and the United Nations human rights mechanisms during the reporting period. The Secretary-General acknowledges the detailed comments provided by the Government in response to the interim report presented at the forty-seventh session of the Human Rights Council.1 The present report should be read in conjunction with the interim report.
