In this video clip, Eduardo Gonzalez, Director of Truth and Memory program of International Center for Transitional Justice, responds to those who claim that to have a better society we need to forget the past violence and understanding the truth can be harmful for the society. He stresses the importance of research, discovery and dissemination of truth which are not only important to repair the mental (moral) and material harms that have occurred to the victims but they are also very much needed to educate the society and prevent the recurrence of similar disasters.
