New Report on Iran's Failed Promises on Human Rights
Baha'i International Community
September 1, 2014
Report
This report, published in September 2014, examines the commitments Iran made in 2010 at the UN Human Rights Council during its first Universal Periodic Review and the degree to which the government of Iran has kept those commitments. Specifically, Iran accepted 34 recommendations that in some way address its persecution of the Iranian Baha’i community. Four of those recommendations mentioned Baha’is specifically. Four others called for Iran to uphold international commitments to guarantee freedom of religion. And 26 others concern due process, torture, or exclusion from education or employment that also affect the Baha’i community.
